Benefits Overview for New Hires

This 1-day seminar is recommended for all newly hired or rehired employees eligible for retirement coverage. The following programs are explained:

- CSRS, CSRS Offset, and FERS Retirement Programs --Includes benefits of making deposits for temporary service, deposits for military service, and redeposits for refunded service
- FERS Transfer Opportunity for Rehired
- Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB)
- Federal Employees Group Life Insurance (FEGLI)
- Thrift Savings Plan (TSP)

Retirement Planning- Understanding and Optimizing Your Federal Retirement
(Employees should be encouraged to bring spouses to seminars.)

We offer three separate one-day Retirement Planning seminars aimed at mid-career Federal employees:

- CSRS and CSRS Offset
- FERS
- Federal Retirement for Firefighters/ Law Enforcement Officers

Seminars explain the retirement programs including common retirement mistakes. During seminars, employees project estimated future Federal retirement annuities. This allows employees to take action to obtain their desired standard of living at retirement.
Note: Employees may wish to bring handheld calculators to seminars.

Federal Retirement Briefing- Making the Right Decisions at Retirement

We offer two separate 1-day Retirement Briefings for Federal employees retiring (non-disability) within the year:

- CSRS and CSRS Offset
- FERS

In this briefing, employees review all documents needed to apply for Federal retirement. All survivor benefits and retirement FEGLI choices are discussed in detail. Employees are provided up-to-date information on OPM’s retirement processing.
